About Us
York Private Hire Association - Aim
The prime aim of the York Private Hire Association is to represent mutual
interests within the trade of both private hire operators and their drivers and
to nurture a professional attitude at all times. In order to achieve these aims
the YHPA shall:-
• Meet regularly with the necessary Council personnel to discuss common trade
issues.
• Relate any issue learnt which is relevant to their business to all membership
sectors.
• Offer advice and/ or other assistance, where relevant, to any member with any
problem related to their dealings with the authorities or other legal bodies.
• Strive for a safer working environment for all drivers, via a separate sub
committee.
• Liase with the York Taxi Association on matters which may be of mutual
benefit.
• Keep members up to date with regular bulletins.
• Set in place a system to share information of mutual benefit or interest to
all member companies.
• Constantly seek new avenues to enhance its service to all members.
However, the YPHA is at pains to point out to all members that it is a trade
association and not a trade union. As such it cannot and will not offer
representation in any disputes or other matters which would relate totally
within one Company or its driving staff.
Please also note that the YHPA actively encourages fair competition amongst its
company members and will not discuss any issue which appears to discourage such
competition.
