Membership
Corporate members
Any Private Hire Company can join the association and pay £3 per annum, per
driver for corporate membership; any driver working for that company is then an
automatic member of the association while they drive for that company. If they
leave that company and drive for a company that does not have corporate
membership they will not be a member unless they join individually.
Please note current Corporate members are Fleetways, 659,Streamline and
Telecars only. Any driver working with these companies is currently an automatic
member of the Association. Anyone driving for any other company has, of course,
the option of individual membership below.
Individual Members
Any Private Hire driver licensed by York City Council can join the
association individually. The cost is also £3 per annum payable by the date they
have joined.
Representatives All Private Hire Companies can have up to two representatives
on the association committee whether they are corporate or individual
membership, i.e. a driver from a non-corporate company who joins as an
individual may still seek election to the committee to represent that company.
Corporate members may decide themselves who will represent them and submit the
appropriate candidate(s), who still require election. If a company has a member
in an officer role they are allowed extra places on the non-officer committee
membership,as officers are deemed to represent the Association as a whole.
Individual members Non Company Any Private Hire driver who does not drive for
a company i.e. one man operators can join as an individual and they as a
collective may have up to two representatives on the association which they will
decide between themselves who that will be. We will advise all one man operators
of the other members so they can decide themselves. At the present time there
are vacancies for these two members.
