History Whilst SHK itself has only been in existence since 1999, the business can trace its origins back to the late 1970's. Whilst there have been changes in the ownership of the business, some clients have been with us for over 20 years. Location We are situated on Water Street which is accessed from Brunswick Street, the main A52 Newcastle to Stoke road, opposite Zanzibar nightclub on the left hand side coming out of Newcastle. Plenty of free parking is available.There is a small car park at the back of our office as well as plenty of on-street parking. Most of our clients are based in Newcastle, Stoke-on-Trent, Leek and the surrounding areas. We also have a number of clients in Nottingham, Mansfield, Derby and as far afield as Manchester, Birmingham, Oxford, London and France. Opening hours Our normal hours of opening are 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. As a small business ourselves we recognise the need for flexiblity and appointments, can therefore, by arrangement be made outside these hours. THE SHK TEAM Stephen and Tracey Tracey and Stephen are the two partners of SHK. Tracey is the managing partner and, as a qualified Accounting Technician, has many years experience of accounts and bookeeping. Stephen obtained a degree in Accountancy in 1982 and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1986. He has over 25 years experience of working in small accountancy practices. They deal with all aspects of accounts and taxation for our clients and are constantly looking at ways of helping our clients keep more of their hard-earned money. Stephen usually sees clients after their year-end to discuss their accounts and tax position. Tracey has good experience of several different types of computerised accounting packages, but particularly of sage and several clients benefit from the support she gives them with their bookkeeping and strategic development of their business Mike. Natalie and Matt Mike, Natalie and Matt deal with the preparation of accounts and VAT returns for all our clients and are the main contact for many clients. Mike also deals with all company formation and Companies House issues. As well as being a part-qualified accountant he has over 20 years experience of sales and marketing and is our customer relations manager. Natalie has worked in accountancy for over 15 years and has significant experience of accounts, VAT, payroll and bookkeeping. Matt is our newest recruit at SHK and is currently studying for the Association of Accountancy Technicians qualification. Debra and Hilary Debra and Hilary work part-time sharing the reception duties and will be the first point of contact when visiting or telephoning our office. Both have extensive experience of the work involved and ensure that the efficiency of SHK remains at the highest level. Hilary's work is mainly secretarial and administrative. Debra is responsible for dealing with the payroll on a regular basis for a number of clients as well as dealing with one off payroll issues.
