Epsom has been voted "the best place to live" in
the United Kingdom - and it is easy to see why! It has a long history,
and plenty of good buildings to show for it. It was the first spa town
in England - and still has its Assembly Rooms. It was the place where
Epsom salts were first discovered, and that lead to the start of the Derby,
an annual event which is known all over the world. It has a unique method
of non-party political local government. It has very good rail and road
connections (it is just inside the M25), a great number of good local
schools, and more open spaces than any other borough in or around London.
There is a good modern centre, a multiplex cinema, and a theatre. It is
a vibrant local community - so no wonder it gets rated so highly
