Commitment to Innovation
Commitment to Innovation

CTI OBJECTIVES Background

The concept of businesses receiving recognition for making a "Commitment to Innovation" was first discussed in 1995, during the Wales Regional Technology Plan (RTP) consultation process. The RTP Action Plan, published in 1996, prioritised a culture of innovation for personal and economic success. The need to recognise and reward innovation was highlighted as being vital if the innovation culture was to develop successfully in Wales.

These factors led the Welsh Development Agency and the DTI Innovation Unit to develop the "Commitment to Innovation" programme for companies and organisations in Wales.

Commitment to Innovation was launched in 1997 to encourage and promote innovative organisations in Wales. Such organisations commit themselves to innovation in their corporate strategies, adopt good innovation management principles and implement them in their daily business practice.
